The Bakehouse goes digital with Kathleen Jamie

April 10th 7.15 for 7.30pm

The Bakehouse is thrilled to be hosting Kathleen Jamie as our third virtual guest of 2021. Expect another stimulating Bakehouse evening with one of the finest poets in Scotland. If you’ve enjoyed Gerda Stevenson and John Glenday you will certainly enjoy this! Awards include the prestigious Eric Gregory Award, The Forward Prize, and the Scottish Book of the Year Award to name but a few.  Reviews for both poetry and prose are laudatory. Kathleen will be reading from her ’Selected Poems’ and her new, hybrid forms. Sounds fascinating! Do join us. Looking forward to another great night in!

‘Jamie’s shape-shifting, metaphorical imagination startles the mind awake.’  The Guardian

‘With each successive theme to which Jamie turns her vision she brings the gift of insight…poetry of stunning clarity and musicality.’ The Scotsman

Kathleen will be followed by our traditional Fickle Tupperware Bowl of Fate, a little less fickle than usual featuring the first five (f) and first five (m) poets who apply to read.

The event will be streamed via Zoom.  If you would like to join our audience, or be one our open mic readers let me know soonest at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We’ll send you the relevant Zoom link to join nearer the time.

We look forward to seeing you on April 10th for another brilliant night at The Bakehouse. Booking is essential so we know who to ‘admit’.
